Our backgrounds have instilled in us a relentless drive, making us a true force to be reckoned with in the real estate industry. We are passionate about what we
do and channel that energy into delivering exceptional results for every client we serve.
Neil and Laura Bacchus are partners in both life and business, bringing decades of real estate, investment, and entrepreneurial experience to their clients through The Bacchus Group. Their shared passion for helping people build wealth, navigate major life transit
ions, and make smart real estate decisions has shaped both their careers and their personal mission.
Neil immigrated to the United States from Guyana, South America, in 1976 at the age of 13. Arriving in Washington, DC with little money and no connections, he quickly learned the value of hard work and perseverance. As one of seven children, he took on countless side jobs—from cutting grass and delivering newspapers to working on cars—to help create opportunities for himself. By the age of 24, he had saved $40,000 and was prepared to buy a Pontiac Trans Am, when his father encouraged him to invest in real estate instead. That decision changed his life.
Neil purchased his first investment property nearly 40 years ago and still owns it today. Without internet resources at the time, he taught himself property management through books, hands-on experience, and determination. He learned everything from leasing and advertising to painting and tenant management. At 26, he earned his real estate license and began building a career helping others buy, sell, and invest in property while continuing to grow his own portfolio. His deep knowledge of real estate, combined with patience, professionalism, and persistence, has made him a trusted advisor to countless clients throughout the DC Metro area.

Laura’s background also reflects resilience, ambition, and a strong commitment to helping others. Raised by a hardworking single mother, she developed resourcefulness and problem-solving skills early in life. She earned a degree in psychology followed by an MBA and began her career in nonprofit work as a Child Protective Services investigator. Seeking new experiences, she later moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where she taught English and traveled extensively.
After returning to the United States, Laura became deeply involved in supporting children with Autism and their families, helping develop one of Montgomery County’s early respite care programs through CSAAC. Following years of demanding work and caregiver burnout, she transitioned into real estate and mortgage lending, where she met Neil. Their shared entrepreneurial drive and passion for real estate quickly led them to build a life and business together.

Together, Neil and Laura built and operated a successful property management company and investment portfolio, eventually growing to over 100 clients before selling much of the business. Their complementary strengths continue to define their success: Neil is known for his people skills, negotiation ability, and extensive knowledge of homes and real estate investing, while Laura brings strategic thinking, organization, and expertise in complex transitions.
Laura holds multiple advanced certifications, including Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®), Certified Probate Expert (CPE), and Senior Transition Specialist (STS). She specializes in helping families navigate probate, estate sales, downsizing, and senior living transitions. Today, The Bacchus Group is recognized as a trusted resource for several leading estate and probate law firms and senior living communities throughout the region.
Outside of real estate, family and giving back remain central to their lives. They support Guyana United to Serve our Youth (GUTSY), helping promote values such as discipline, honesty, and hard work to young people. They also enjoy traveling, cooking, cycling, gardening, personal development, and spending time with their son, Hamden. Above all, Neil and Laura are passionate about serving as trusted advocates and long-term resources for the clients and communities they serve.
Sincerely,

Neil Bacchus
